Thursday, March 31, 2022 -- $75,691.57 (-$4,930.00, -6.11%) Well, we can see that KIND's after-hours trading yesterday did not seem to have much relevance, as KIND closed down another 1.2% today.  However, because the portfolio snapshot was taken after hours and included the post-market close resurgence, yesterday's portfolio loss much smaller than at yesterday's close.  Despite the small loss for KIND, the portfolio was down over 6% today.

Wednesday, March 30, 2022 -- $80,621.57 (-$1,280.00, -1.56%)

Image
Wednesday, March 30, 2022 -- $80,621.57 (-$1,280.00, -1.56%) KIND closed down over 3% today but appeared to recover all of the losses in after-hours trading, though after-hours trading, because of its low volume is often not indicative of the value the broad market is placing on a security.  We will see tomorrow whether this sticks.

Tuesday, March 29, 2022 -- $81,901.57 (+$1,050.00, +1.31%)

Image
Tuesday, March 29, 2022 -- $81,901.57 (+$2,050.00, +2.57%) KIND closed up about 0.48% and the portfolio was up, correspondingly, about 2.57%.  Please keep in mind that the prices I am referring to are the closing prices (1:00pm West Coast, 4:00pm East Coast) for the day.  I generally take the portfolio snapshot several hours later so the portfolio prices and value could be affected by aftermarket trades.  Please keep in mind that aftermarket trading is often not as indicative of value than trades that take place during regular market hours.  This is because there is a much lower volume of trading in after-hours trading and so prices can change significantly when just a few shares are traded.

Monday, March 28, 2022 -- $79,851.57 (+$3,250.00, +4.24%)

Image
Monday, March 28, 2022 -- $79,851.57 (+$3,250.00, +4.24%) KIND closed about 2.8% today and the portfolio with its between 50% and 100% leveral-equivalent position was up about 4.2% (about 50% more than KIND's gain).  While this may seem like a rather ho-hum day compared to recent days' ginormous gains/losses, a 4% gain is nothing to sneeze at.

Friday, March 25, 2022 -- $76,601.57 (+$1,740.00, +2.32%)

Image
Friday, March 25, 2022 -- $76,601.57 (+$1,740.00, +2.32%) Although KIND was down $0.06/share today, due to Robinhood's portfolio valuation glitch yesterday, the portfolio shows as being up over 2% today.  As long as the underlying portfolio positions are properly recorded, it does not really matter what valuation your broker is assigning to your portfolio--value speaks for itself--so the broker's indicated value is similar to a comment in a line or programming code--it is interesting but does not actually change how the program operates.

Thursday, March 24, 2022 -- $74,861.57 (-$1,460.03, -1.91%)

Image
Thursday, March 24, 2022 -- $74,861.57 (-$1,460.03, -1.91%) Despite Robinhood indicating the value of the portfolio dropped nearly 2%, KIND actually increased in value today by $0.04 (0.66%).  This has to do with the vagaries of Robinhood and what time they value the portfolio.  As far as I can tell it does not make sense and given that KIND rose today and was unchanged in aftermarket trading the portfolio value should not have dropped.  No worries, this just means that the portfolio should rise tomorrow by more than the stock price change would otherwise seem to indicate. Also ... I sold 10 KIND $6 put options that expire in 3 weeks for $0.40/share.  If KIND, which closed today at $6.10/share, closes above $5.60 on April 14th then this position will be positive.  If KIND closes above $6.00/share then the portfolio will benefit to the tune of $400.00 = $0.40/share * 10 contracts * 100 shares/contract.

Wednesday, March 23, 2022 -- $76,321.60 (-$1,180.00, -1.52%)

Image
Wednesday, March 23, 2022 -- $76,321.60 (-$1,180.00, -1.52%) Move along.  Nothing to see here.  Move along.

Tuesday, March 22, 2022 -- $77,501.60 (+$9,640.06, +14.21%)

Image
Tuesday, March 22, 2022 -- $77,501.60 (+$9,640.06, +14.21%) I don't know what was behind today's rise, but KIND was up 8% at the closing bell.

Monday, March 21, 2022 -- $67,861.54, (-$8,580.00, -11.22%)

Image
Monday, March 21, 2022 -- $67,861.54, (-$8,580.00, -11.22%) The war continues.  Russia has used hypersonic missiles against Ukraine and bragged about their use--probably as a warning to NATO because NATO has no defense against them.  China claims to be neutral but parrots Russian disinformation and possibly would enjoy seeing a war between Russia and the West.  Russia continues shelling apartment buildings, schools, and shopping malls.  Wheat and other commodity prices are going up and with anticipated shortages caused by Ukraine's inability to plant a new crop, experts predict worldwide food shortages and much higher prices for those who are able to obtain food.  The Fed Chairman is now saying the Fed may be more aggressive than their already announced anticipated 6 additional 1/4% rate increases this year to combat inflation. Against this backdrop, the market has been quite jittery and will probably continue to be so for a while and KIND gave up a good chunk o...

Friday, March 18, 2022 -- $76,441.54 (+$3,560.00, +4.88%)

Image
Friday, March 18, 2022 -- $76,441.54 (+$3,560.00, +4.88%) Slowly KIND is clawing its way back up and we are now about $20K off the lows of just a few days ago.  One interesting thing to note is that the KIND options in the portfolio, because they are lightly traded and because they are bought/sold in prices that require $0.05 increments, move in somewhat of a "choppy" manner and are not as directly tied to the KIND share pricing as KIND shares are.  So, today almost 85% of the gain came from the KIND shares.

Thursday, March 17, 2022 -- $72,881.54 (-$1,600.00, -2.15%)

Image
Thursday, March 17, 2022 -- $72,881.54 (-$1,600.00, -2.15%) Not much happened today ... other than the world is getting more concerned about the possibility that Putin will take out his frustration about his difficulties in subduing Ukraine by stepping up his attacks and using either chemical or nuclear weapons.

Wednesday, March 16, 2022 -- $74,481.54 (+8,040.00, +12.10%)

Image
Wednesday, March 16, 2022 -- $74,481.54 (+8,040.00, +12.10%) The Federal Reserve increased short-term interest rates by 0.25%, Russia indicates progress in negotiations to end the war with Ukraine--pardon my French, I meant "special military operation with Ukraine."  And amongst this backdrop, KIND climbed over 6%, pushing up the portfolio over 12%!  It is still nearly $20,000 lower than it was on inception, but more than $15,000 higher than it was a mere two days ago!

Tuesday, March 15, 2022 -- $66,441.54 (+$7,880.00, +13.46%)

Image
Tuesday, March 15, 2022 -- $66,441.54 (+$7,880.00, +13.46%)  The broad market and KIND took a breather from the constant downward spiral we have seen recently.  While still far below the starting value of the portfolio, any gain is welcome!

Monday, March 14, 2022 -- $58,561.54 (-$5,300.00, -8.30%)

Image
Monday, March 14, 2022 -- $58,561.54 (-$5,300.00, -8.30%) Sounds kind of like a broken record, but KIND went down again--almost 4%.  The leveraged portfolio went down more than 8%.  One month ago the portfolio was at a record high, and now it is just a few hundred dollars above it's record low.  While I still believe in KIND, it does not come without significant stress.

Friday, March 11, 2022 -- $63,861.54 (-$8,560.00, -11.82%)

Image
Friday, March 11, 2022 -- $63,861.54 (-$8,560.00, -11.82%) KIND plunged today, taking the portfolio with it.  So far there have been 37 days on which the portfolio moved more than 5% (up or down) in a single day.  Clearly this is not for the feint of heart.

Thursday, March 10, 2022 -- $72,421.54 (-$100.00, -0.14%)

Image
Thursday, March 10, 2022 -- $72,421.54 (-$100.00, -0.14%) The portfolio was nearly unchanged, just down $100 because KIND was nearly unchanged.   I am going to hazard a guess that this will be the smallest day-to-day portfolio value change for this year for any day on which all of the securities in the portfolio are traded on an open exchange.

Wednesday, March 9, 2022 -- $72,521.54 (+$7,500.00, +11.53%)

Image
Wednesday, March 9, 2022 -- $72,521.54 (+$7,500.00, +11.53%) And the KIND rally continues into a second day!  I could really get used to these 11% up days

Tuesday, March 8, 2022 -- $65,021.54 (+$6,680.00, +11.45%)

Image
Tuesday, March 8, 2022 -- $65,021.54 (+$6,680.00, +11.45%) Relief!  At least a brief respite from the steady downward trajectory the portfolio has been on.  KIND recovered a bit and the portfolio felt it in a big way--up over 11%!

Monday, March 7, 2022 -- $58,341.54 (-$5,980.00, -9.30%)

Image
Monday, March 7, 2022 -- $58,341.54 (-$5,980.00, -9.30%) WAR!  WAR!  WAR!  Putin threatens Nuclear War!  Putin threatens to take over all of Ukraine!  Putin threatens to cut off Europe's gas supply!  Putin bombs civilians!  Putin says Ukraine and its Jewish President are Nazis! It is all getting so depressing.  And the portfolio is certainly feeling it.  Today it reached yet another an all-time low.  Just like a bad hangover that never seems to end, these political power plays feel interminable.

Friday, March 4, 2022 -- $64,321.54 (-$13,440.00, -17.28%)

Image
Friday, March 4, 2022 -- $64,321.54 (-$13,440.00, -17.28%) And the hits keep on coming.  KIND dropped 10% and the leveraged portfolio dropped 17%.  Ugghhhh!  Nextdoor's CEO, Sarah Fryer claims the product strategy is working.  I guess denying you have made a mistake is Rule #1 in the marketing playbook, but I wish they could see the error of their ways--then they would have a better shot at fixing things.  KIND has a fairly unique product and its has been squandering their first-move advantage for years.

Thursday, March 3, 2022 -- $77,761.54 (-$3,140.00, -3.88%)

Image
Thursday, March 3, 2022 -- $77,761.54 (-$3,140.00, -3.88%) Another Groundhog Day kind of day for KIND.  It feels like we are on a gentle, though somewhat steep glide path.  Let's hope we get something uplifting before we crash into a hill!  Again, the portfolio was down a little less than 4%.

Wednesday, March 2, 2022 -- $80,901.54 (-$3,080.00, -3.67%)

Image
Wednesday, March 2, 2022 -- $80,901.54 (-$3,080.00, -3.67%) KIND did suffer a slight earnings hangover and dropped modestly.  Unfortunately, in portfolio that is leveraged through margin and options and is concentrated in one underlying holding, stock movements are magnified resulting in a nearly 4% loss today.

Tuesday, March 1, 2022 -- $83,981.54 (-$520.00, -0.62%)

Image
Tuesday, March 1, 2022 -- $83,981.54 (-$520.00, -0.62%) KIND earnings were announced after the bell and, despite badly missing estimates, KIND was unchanged in after-hours trading.  So, for the second day in a row, this portfolio moved less than one percent!  It kinds of feels like it is just being kind to me so that it can give me whiplash in the coming weeks with dramatic increases to get my hopes up, only to be followed by devastating drops to really crush my soul.
